Lyndsie & Vera: Our Story

Hi! My name is Lyndsie Barrie. When I started my first business at age 21, I was SO LUCKY to have many encouraging women cheering me on.

When I started my next business in 2014, I had to create my own luck by intentionally surrounding myself with go-getter Fempreneurs. This is what led me to starting the YYC Fempreneurs Community In 2019.

In 2025 I partnered up with one of the most encouraging and smart women I’ve ever met: Vera Ilnyckyj.

After getting to know each other for two years, we began co-creating events for Fempreneurs. Then Vera came to me with a brilliant idea: to combine our coaching material into a Mastermind group for women who are ready to level-up their life and business. Lyndsie’s Employee to Entrepreneur story…

In 2014 I was fired from what I thought was my dream job. It was devastating, but a blessing in disguise for my entrepreneur soul! After three years of working for a large international investment corporation, I had no clue how to start my own financial consulting business. Luckily I found a few valuable mentors who pointed me in the right direction.

Searching for like-minded entrepreneurs landed me at a conference where I met my first business coach. It took me a few months to wrap my head around investing that kind of money in a coach when I felt broke all the time, but once I did, my mindset and income began to soar. Each session with my business coach left me feeling ready to take the next steps. I was no longer filled with doubt. I knew I was on track to changing my life and that of my young son. Because I took a leap of faith and hired this business coach, I was able to achieve two huge, life-changing goals:

1. Write my first book

2. Use the free power of social media to connect with dream clients and over 1000 like-minded entrepreneurs

The discoveries and systems that came from this chapter of my life are the basis of my signature marketing school and the next five books I wrote. In 2025 one of my biggest fears came true: my Instagram account disappeared unexpectedly. This experience was a blessing in disguise as I leaned in more than ever to focusing on social media as a way to drive traffic to my website where they can sign up for my email and SMS list. By 2018 my new book and online marketing success sparked questions from female entrepreneurs in my circle. They saw that my book was on the shelf at a Chapters store in Calgary and that I had added International Speaker to my LinkedIn profile after being invited to speak in the US. The vision for my future and what I felt called to do started taking shape. I offered four marketing workshops for women over the next year. While at a retreat called the Hoffman Process, I clearly saw what I would do over the next 6 months, and for many years to come:

I help Fempreneurs use social media apps (mainly Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube) to attract their niche people. This often begins with helping them niche down. To “niche down” one’s business means to tailor the marketing message to a specific group of people.

Through group and private business coaching, hundreds of Fempreneurs have learned my online marketing system. It has been a dream come true to combine my knowledge and experience with Vera’s.
