“The YYC Fempreneurs are getting ready to throw their biggest celebration to date with door prizes and networking at Trolley 5 Brewpub”
Calgary, AB: On September 30th, 2021, YYC Fempreneurs will be celebrating local women in business and a new book; a collection of stories and strategies from Calgary women building successful businesses and unbreakable bonds.
Lyndsie Barrie is a local author and the founder of YYC Fempreneurs, a community which has been growing rapidly since its inception in March 2019:
“It all began as a free six-week marketing school to help women use social media to effectively market their businesses.” says Barrie. “Parties have been a staple of our community’s growth. Most of our parties have been Grad Nights, where we celebrate new Fempreneur Marketing School Grads. The event on September 30th will be the first of its kind - our biggest and best event yet.”
Barrie says that through the YYC Fempreneurs, hundreds of women have found what they need to succeed in business: a team of supportive, like-minded women. The event coming up on September 30th will include door prizes, networking games, food, Trolley 5 beer specials, a few speeches, and dancing - all in support of local female entrepreneurs.
***Attendees of the Sept 30th event will also receive a copy of Lyndsie’s new book, “We Should Be Friends: Women Building Successful Businesses and Unbreakable Bonds.” (Note: the event is 75% sold out!)
“The number one reason why female entrepreneurs quit is because they don’t have a team. You pretty much have to have a screw loose to stay in the entrepreneur game. And it really is a game. Like any game, you must have confidence. Being your own boss sounds sexy and attractive, but it isn’t unless you have a team of Fempreneurs cheering you across finish line, giving you confidence. That’s when the game becomes fun.”
Barrie says that when Fempreneurs have other like-minded women to bounce ideas off of, who don’t keep secrets about what’s working in their businesses, that’s when the income really starts to roll in. She admits, “I lived it. I played the ‘tough business woman’ role for too long, feeling lonely and thinking that if I asked for help, I’d look weak. I didn’t trust many women. Eventually I learned the secret to success is trusting and staying connected with other women who are working to achieve similar goals.”
Lyndsie’s six-week marketing school now has over 160 graduates and many of the Grads will be in attendance on September 30th at Trolley 5 Brewpub. She invites all women who own a business or anyone who wants to show support for local female entrepreneurs to attend the event September 30th.

“Local group of Fempreneurs heads up A Global Leadership and Marketing Conference”
Calgary, AB: January 4-7, 2021 will be a busy and exciting four days for 200+ female business owners who will attend 30 live and interactive workshops on Zoom hosted by Lyndsie Barrie and the YYC Fempreneurs.
“The focus of the workshops are Leadership, Marketing and making lasting connections.” says Barrie. “The event has attracted speakers, experts, best-selling authors and all sorts of business women from Canada and the United States.”
The YYC Fempreneur Community began in early 2019, dedicated to providing women a safe place to develop their marketing skills and build connections with other like-minded women. YYC Fempreneurs founder, Lyndsie Barrie, says a conference to grow the community and deepen the connections was a natural progression.
One of the speakers, Kari Rose, commented on the value and timeliness of the Fempreneurs Leadership and Marketing Conference:
“The mental and emotional effect this conference will have on the women who attend will be the greatest impact. Of course women will learn about leadership and marketing, but they will gain so much more from surrounding themselves with other women who are lifting one another up and seeking personal growth.”
Women who own a business or are thinking of starting a business are invited to check out the Conference Workshop Schedule and learn more about the 30 speakers at yycfempreneurs.com and on Instagram @yycfempreneurs.

“Local author collaboration launches book for women in business”
Cochrane, AB: In February 2020, a group called the YYC Fempreneurs celebrated the launch of a new book aimed at providing the tools and strategies needed for women to market their businesses online.
The book titled Find Your Voice on Social Media: A six week guide to sharing your message with those who need it most, was written by Cochrane resident and Founder of YYC Fempreneurs, Lyndsie Barrie, with the help of her team of fempreneurs.
“One of the key messages of the book is to teach women the importance of building a team around them, for encouragement and accountability,” says Barrie. “That’s why it was so important to me to write this book with my team. They have all gone through my free six-week marketing school and they all have inspiring stories to share, which we captured in the book.”
The book’s contents are based upon the lessons Barrie teaches through the free marketing school. Readers can expect a step-by-step guide to how to better serve their audience and reach them with various digital marketing tools.
“We cover the importance of building relationships in marketing by sharing personal stories and showing up in an authentic way online,” Barrie says. “The ladies I’ve met through this program have an important message and a feeling that their business or business idea is aligned with their purpose. But, they don’t know how to get started with social media.”
Above all, readers will walk away from the book with a sense of confidence.
“I’m motivated by the confidence this information gives women who want to be successful with their own businesses. Once they have more comfort with the tools and strategies that work to market a business online, they step into their purpose and start doing remarkable things.”
This book is a collaboration by:
Liz Campbell (Calgary, AB)
Cynthia Hamilton Urquhart (Calgary, AB)
Hanna Bracken (Golden, BC)
Kelly Sinclair (Cochrane, AB)
Carey Wilkinson Lee (Cochrane, AB)
Melanie Higuchi (Calgary, AB)
Stacey Watts (Airdrie, AB)
The book is available for order on Amazon and at Calgary’s Indigo Signal Hill.
