Hello Fempreneur :) Vera here. When I first stepped into my business full-time, I didn’t have a very detailed plan about how I was going to do things, but I did have an extremely deep inner knowing that I was on the right path. And I was very clear about wanting to help women live a life of purpose, autonomy, and confidence.

This stemmed from my experience of feeling like a complete failure after getting divorced and fired, from which I learned the value of having a community of support around me. So, when I started my business, I knew I wanted to be part of a group of like-minded women to help me along the way.

In my search for this group of women, I started seeing the term “mastermind”. I had heard this word before and knew that masterminds brought together people working towards a similar goal. It was what Napoleon Hill called the third mind. I’ve always believed in the power of working together, sharing ideas, and helping each other learn and grow.

I decided to join a mastermind group and…. it was not at all what I expected, nor wanted. In fact, I was totally disappointed and felt like I had wasted a ton of money on something that wasn’t even helpful. Well, this was my first (victim-y) thought was anyway.

Here’s what I know for sure: every experience has a purpose, a lesson, and a gift.

Joining my first mastermind group left me with this:

The purpose was to ignite an idea — to create my own mastermind that brings together women in a container that’s supportive, safe, brave, and collaborative. This is exactly what I did.

The lesson of this experience was to clarify who my people are — who I really want in my corner, who I want to be surrounded by, and the person I want to be in my business.
